1938 Marx, Hi-Yo Silver the Lone Ranger in Original Box

1938 Marx, Hi-Yo Silver the Lone Ranger in Original Box

Classic tin litho clockwork Lone Ranger figure seated on his rearing horse, Silver. Unused in excellent+ condition complete with excellent+ to near mint original box.

For those unfamiliar with this toy its internal clockwork motor produces a circular vibrating motion while simultaneously spinning an overhead lariat. The horse's tail rest on the ground which balances the hind legs. The left arm with pistol swings freely. The right arm (with lariat) is stationary. The toy was produced in a silverized metallic version as well.

Although production for this toy was halted prior to WWII it was resurrected in 1948 when it reappeared on a lithographed rocker base. In 1938 the toy sold for 39¢.

Beautifully illustrated red and green box shows the Masked Man in a stance which is nearly identical to the toy. Side panels repeat the name of the toy and show portrait heads of a smiling Lone Ranger and a snorting Silver in opposite corners.
